Carmelita C. Canila, MD, MPA, has a strong education professional with a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) focused on Strategic Human Resource Management in Health Sector Reform from the University of Santo Tomas, the Philippines, in 2014. Previously, she graduated from University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, College of Medicine in 1989. Currently, Carmi is a lecturer at the College of Public Health, University of the Philippines. She leads the Department of Health Policy and Administration and Masters in Hospital Administration Program. She is also a committee of SEAMEO Center for Masters in Public Health, Occupational Health, and Hospital Administration.
Carmi has a lot of experience in several projects, such as a leader of Private Sector Mobilization for Family Health Project- Phase 2 (PRISM2), which responsible for increasing and sustaining private sector provision of quality MNCHN services within Service Delivery Network (SDNs). Previously, she is a Local Health Systems Advisor of GIZ, which provided technical assistance in organizing the Inter Local Health Zones; establishing health systems such as Drug Management System, District Health Management encompassing both preventive/health promotive and curative aspects, institutionalizing Quality Management both in preventive and curative health care in the RHUs and public hospitals Health Care Financing, Local Governance, Population Development and Management, local development planning, institutionalized the involvement and participation in health care delivery of non-government organizations.
