Occupational health and safety is the global concern for all companies. Based on data from ILO, every day 6.300 peoples die as a result of occupational accidents or work-related diseases, more than 2.3 million deaths per year, 317 million accidents occur on the job annually; many of these resulting in extended absences from work. The human cost of this daily adversity is vast and the economic burden of poor occupational safety and health practices is estimated at 4 per cent of global Gross Domestic Product each year. In Indonesia, the number of accident is high. Data from Workers Social Insurance Provider (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan), number of accidents in 2015 were 110.285 cases in 16.082 companies.
In this globalization era, especially in Asean Economic Community, The Quality of human resources is very crucial. Occupational health and safety is one aspect that must be implemented. The aim of implementation of occupational health and safety to make the healthy, safe and productive workplace so that the accident related injury and occupational disease can be reduced. To achieve the safe and health workplace; the government, private sector and community should cooperative each other. All parties should take an action and participate in build safety culture to achieve safe, health and productive community.
Based on the problems described above, the Faculty of Public Health will hold a seminar in the field of occupational health and safety with the theme “Improving the Occupational Safety and Health culture to Increase the Quality of Life towards Safe, Health, And Productive Community”
